Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly ready to try again to sign Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente if Diego Costa ends up leaving in the summer transfer window.
The Blues face the prospect of losing their top scorer at the end of this season, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and clubs from the Chinese Super League strongly linked with him in recent times.
Costa’s future was also a worry during the January transfer window, leading Conte to look at a surprise move for Swansea front-man Llorente, who had been slow to get going in the Premier League.
Still, the 32-year-old has improved as the season has gone on, with 14 league goals in total to help the Swans secure top flight survival.
The Spaniard seems an ideal backup option if the champions sign one of those other two at centre-forward, as he would likely be more willing to settle for a place on the bench than younger players such as Michy Batshuayi this season.
Llorente worked under Conte to good effect at Juventus, and while it wouldn’t be a signing to get Chelsea fans off their feet, their manager hasn’t got a lot wrong so far in his Stamford Bridge career.
